Ugly House, Ardingly, West Sussex

Planning Resolution secured planning permission for a unique extension designed by the late architect Will Alsop, featured on Channel 4's Ugly House to Lovely House television show in 2016 presented by George Clarke.
The extension transformed a tired 1950s bungalow and ill-conceived 1980’s extension with a dramatic barrel vault roof extension to the rear of the bungalow with bespoke exposed curved beams, a shiny aluminium roof and four porthole windows.

The design differs to the surrounding properties and it uses materials ordinarily seen in large-scale industrial buildings, adapting these to a small-scale and detailed specification. The site is also within a Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

The project won the 2018 Mid-Sussex Design Award.
