Ace Hotel
Shoreditch
Architect: EPR Architects
In addition to securing a significant alteration to the appearance of the building within a Conservation Area, substantial activating ‘ancillary’ ground-level facilities were introduced to include a cafe serving Square Mile Coffee, a take-away food kiosk, gallery space, a flower shop by local florist Hattie Fox, Lovage juice bar and a communal long table for those wishing to take a break.
The ‘Shoreditch tone’ was applied to the façade with robust local materials being used, such as brick metalwork and Crittall glazing.
The 258 room hotel includes a 100-cover restaurant and a 50-capacity adjoining bar, with separate street access.
The ground floor is a hallmark of Ace Hotel, designed to act as a space for guests as well as the local community to gather and interact.
The hotel won the “Best Renovation” at the European Hotel Design Awards
